I read the book at ya'll's recommendation ( listened to the first podcast). I liked it. I gave it to my Christian therapist friend. She did not like it.
I admit to cringing at the raw details. And being amazed that he kept taking her back. But the part I liked was the story of the search for a church, and the community that rose up to stand by both husband and wife, while still holding them accountable. It's remarkable that these are the people Harrison has formed a ( musical) band with- and also perfect because this is his band of brothers.
I think we don't normally do this as Catholics. We're too polite and don't talk about things in mixed company ( Flannery O'Conner would have , tho? Or maybe only write about it). There's too little of couples hanging with couples when you are going through the worst.
If you are in the hospital, yes. If your wife cheated on you, not so much.
So looking forward to listening. Per your recommendation (and bc we do pre cana marriage prep), I just finished the book yesterday and my husband is almost finished with it too!
